In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

I had received the article below through an email. The author of the article is apparently an apostate from Islam. It is also apparent from the article that the author has made denigration of Islam as his life-mission. And he is resorting to all sorts of falsehoods to promote his mission in life.

Most Muslims are wont to dismiss such articles as rantings of sick minds. But there may be a few who may be taken in by the falsefoods repeatedly uttered. It is therefore advisable once in a while to take up one such article and unmask the mischief that the author is trying to spread. I have taken up this article just for that purpose.

My responses to points made in the article are given in blue font within the body of the article. The article is long, and the response consequently is also lengthy. I hope the readers won't mind the length, in the interest of refreshing themselves with the correct Islamic perspective to ward off such attacks on the Allah-approved Religion.

Islamic Morality

By. Anwar Sheikh

Man is born with a moral sense which enables him to
differentiate between right and wrong. Without
subjecting behaviour to a common standard of vice and
virtue, social evolution is not possible. This is the
reason that even the primitive societies had words
which denoted differenc between good and bad.

All societies did not practise universal standards of
vice and virtue, yet it is well known that almost all
communities knew what was good and bad. For example,
mutual fidelity of consorts, speaking the truth,
keeping promises, respecting family ties, helping the
poor and weak, were considered signs of good morality.
Of course, morality cannot be coded but its rules are
well understood. From this attitude arose the famous
maxim: "Do not do to others what you do not want to be
done to yourself."

It means that you must wish others what you wish for
yourself. Since every one desires security of person
and property, liberty to worship, fair trial, freedom
of speech etc., these facts, over a period of time,
rose to become what is called Human Rights. He who
violates these rights is held the enemy of humankind.

When Islamic morality is judged by universal
standards, this Arabian religion fails to qualify as
the friend and guide of humanity. In fact, it
constitutes a major threat to the survival of human
race. I have no doubt that the Muslims will protest
against this point of view, and as usual, will produce
far- fetched and irrational evidence to prove that
Islam advocates love and brotherhood of mankind. This
type of sorcery has worked wonders for Muslim
fundamentalists in the past, but with the
dissemination of knowledge, it is difficult to cloud
the truth with the magic of misinterprelation, marvel
of mesmerisation and mysticism of meaninglessness.
The author of this article (hereinafter referred to as the author) has miserably failed to take note of the undeniable fact that with the dissemination of knowledge, Islam has emerged as the fastest growing religion in the world today.
Islam has become a set of fundamentals which preach
social segregation, hatred of non-Muslims and
elimination of dissenters through dominance, death and
destruction. These conclusions, no matter how true,
cannot be palatable to the Muslims and therefore rank
as fabrications, from their standpoint. I can do no
better than quote from the Koran to decide the issue.
And I can do no better than quote from the Qur'aan itself to show how the author has sought to deliberately misrepresent Islam by giving wrong meanings to the verses and mentioning them completely out of their context.
Examine the following for yourself:

1. "Do not let non-Muslims enter mosques. They
will go to hell." ( Repentance: 17 )
The full translation of that verse is as follows: "It is not for polytheists (those who worship many gods, not One) to maintain places set aside for worshipping Allah (the One and Only God of the entire universe), while they themselves bear witness to their being unbelievers in such One God, Allah. Their deeds have all gone in vain, and in Fire they shall abide. " Compare the two translation. The author's mischief will be apparent. How can those who do not believe in One God be allowed to maintain places devoted for the worship of One God?

The Qur'aanic position is that the Qur'aan is the Book of Guidance  from Allah, the Only Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe.  HE has created human beings, endowed with intelligence that is not given to other creatures like animals and birds. Allah has endowed human beings with greater intelligence primarily in order that they use it to recognise, by their own free choice, His existence without physically seeing Him. And He has not left human beings groping in the dark with just their intelligence! HE revealed His Books of Guidance for them through His chosen Messengers and Prophets, the last of whom was Muhammad, peace be upon him. And the last divine Message, given to the Last Messenger and Prophet, is the Qur'aan. Allah has thus made all such necessary, sufficient and elaborate provisions to enable human beings to recognise His existence, that it is sheer obstinacy and wickedness on the part of any human being of normal intelligence to deny it. Such obstinate and wicked human beings deserve the highest punishment at the hands of their Creator. They deserve the Hell.

      2. "O ye who believe! The non-Muslims are
unclean. So let them not come near the Inviolable
Place of Worship." (Repentance: 28)
The complete verse is as follows: "O ye who believe! The polytheists are indeed irreverent people. So let them not come near  the Sacred/Inviolable Place of Worship after this year. And if you fear poverty, Allah will enrich you out of His Bounty, if He wills. Indeed, Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise."

The author has mischievously tried to twist the meaning of this verse too to give Islam a bad name. How can those who believe in multiple gods and are irreverent to the concept of Allah, the One and Only God, be allowed to violate the sanctity of the Sacred Place of Worship reserved for Him?

When this divine decree of disallowing polytheists near the Kaabah was revealed, people living in Makkah became afraid  that they would be deprived of the pecuniary benefits, that  thousands of them (polytheists) visiting the holy place would accrue to them. Through this verse Allah assured residents of Makkah that He will enrich them. And, true to that divine assurance, today, not only Makkah, but the entire Saudi Arabia is an enriched country. It receives abundant wealth through sale of mineral oil. And it receives millions of Hajis every year from all over the world! This is a clear Qur'aanic prophecy that has come true. This is proof enough that the Qur'aan is divine, the mischievous and false denigrations of the author notwithstanding.
      3. "O ye who believe! Murder those of the
disbelievers .... and let them find harshness in you."
(Repentance: 123)
The full verse: "O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness in you. And know that Allah is with those who are pious."

Please take note of the author's mischief in replacing 'Fight' with 'Murder'. This verse is obviously in relation to a state of war with the disbelievers. And in a state of war, the fighters are naturally urged to be harsh with their opponents.

The believers, whom this verse is addressed to, are required to follow all the divine directives laid down in the Qur'aan. They can't follow one such directive at the cost of another. They won't be considered pious otherwise.

The believers who are required to follow the directive in the above verse, are also therefore mandatorily required to follow verse 2.190 which states, "And fight, in Allah's path, those who fight with you and commit no transgression. Surely, Allah loves not the transgressors." The author's deliberate omission to quote this important verse further reveals his mischievous intent to mislead the gullible public about Islam.
      4. "Humiliate the non-Muslims to such an extent
that they surrender and pay tribute." (Repentance: 29)
Again, in order to serve his nefarious purpose of falsely putting Islam in bad light, the author has not quoted the verse in full and has badly twisted the meaning in his self-made abridged version. He has however made it look like he is giving the literal meaning of the full verse! The full verse is: "Fight those people, who believe neither in Allah, nor in the Last Day. And they prohibit not what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor do they follow religion of the Truth - they who are of those upon whom the Book was revealed. Fight them until they willingly pay the tax and are subued."

This verse too obviously is related to a state of war between the Muslims and the non-Muslims. And fighting is ordained for Muslims as a measure in self-defence, in terms of verse 2.190 quoted herein above. And once fighting has started, the Muslim fighters are given a pep talk here to urge them on, drawing their attention to the fact that their opponents are not believers in Allah, the One Creator of all, and hence cannot get divine help. Such pep talks are given to every army in the world by their commanders to urge them on in the fighting. And every army is urged to fight on till their opponents are completely subdued. And after the opponents are effectively subdued, they have necessarily to pay taxes to meet expenses towards maintenance and recovery of losses in the war. This is the least a conquering army may justifiably do. But other conquering armies do worse. They loot, they destroy and they rape women in the conquered territories. But the Muslim army, acting in pursuance of Qur'aanic guidance and under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad, peace and Allah's blessings be upon him, gave a general amnesty to all people, after they conquered Makkah! There were no cases of looting, destruction or rape.
      5. "O believers, do not treat your fathers and
brothers as your friends, if they prefer unbelief to
belief, whosoever of you takes them for friends, they
are evil-doers." (Repentance: 20)
The author has given the wrong number to the verse. The correct number is 23. And his translation of the Arabic word auliyaa as 'friends' is also not correct. Auliyaa connotes very close friends whose advice one invariably accepts in all matters, including those related to one's religion. How can a believer then take his non-believing fathers and brothers as his auliyaa?! He just can't. He won't remain a believer if he does take them so. It's a fundamental article of faith, in Islam, that to get salvation one has necessarily to have belief, inter alia, in Allah and Resurrection. If one doesn't have this belief, one doesn't get salvation. The one would be doing wrong to or oppressing one's own self then. The one would be a wrong-doer. Wrong-doers would be a better translation for the Arabic term zhualimoon, although evil-doers may not be completely wrong. Non-belief does lead one to evil deeds.

Not taking fathers and brothers as awliyaa doesn't mean that one has not to be good to them. The Qur'aan, on the other hand, does ask the believers to be good to their relatives, especially the parents (The Women: 36). This devine requirement of being good is not conditional to the relatives being believers. The believers however cannot obey the parents if they ask them (the believers) to renounce Islam.
      6. "Certainly, God is an enemy to the
unbelievers." ( The Cow: 90 )
The verse number is again wrong. It is 98, and the author has mischievously quoted it partially and made his translation look like that of the full verse. The full translation is: "Anyone an enemy to Allah, His Angels, His Messengers, Gabriel and Michael?! Certainly then Allah is enemy to the disbelievers."

This verse constitutes a part of the address, started in the preceding verse 97, that Allah asked Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to make to the disbelievers. In this verse, the Prophet specifically addresses the disbelievers who thought they were enemies of Allah, ..... . He tells them that if they thought they were enemies of Allah, .... , then certainly, Allah was enemy to the disblievers.

By declaring themselves enemies of Allah, their sole Creator Who had given them the chance of a lifetime to behave and recognise the Reality (see my comments above), the disbelievers were themselves  responsible for making Allah their enemy.
      7. "God has cursed the unbelievers, and prepared
for them a blazing hell." ( The Confederates 60 )
The verse number is wrong again. It should be 57. This repeated mistake even in giving the number of the verse reveals the mentality of the author. He is by nature careless and inordinately prone to making mistakes. How can we expect him then to be careful and correct in understanding the divine Qur'aan? He thus rules himself out as a worthy commentator.

Besides, the author continues here with his mischief of quoting the verse partially and making it appear as the full verse. His intention of misleading his gullible readers is clear. The full verse is, "Indeed, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger - Allah has withdrawn His Hand of Mercy from them in this world and in the Hereafter, and He has prepared for them a humiliating punishment."

What else, indeed, could those, who annoy their own Creator and His Messenger, expect from Him?
      8. "Let not the believers take the unbelievers
for friends.... whoso does that belongs not to God."
(The House of Imram: 60)
Wrong again. The relevant verse number is 28, and not 60. The full verse is, "Let not the believers take the disbelievers, instead of the believers, as auliyaa, and whoever does that, - unless it be just out of sheer fear - he will not get any help from Allah. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the final return."

In this context, please refer to my reply under quote No. 5 above. There the divine Book asks the believers not to make their non-believing fathers and brothers their auliyaa. When the believers cannot make even their unbelieving fathers and brothers their auliyaa, how can they make other disbelievers their auliyaa? The believers are prohibited from abiding by advices from non-believers on religion-related matters. The prohibition does not apply to other matters on day-to-day fair and good worldly relations with them.

      9. "O believers, do not make friends with the
Jews and Christians; ..whoso of you makes them his
friend is one of them." (The Table: 55)
The verse No. is wrong. It should be 51. And the author is not quoting the verse in full. Please see my remarks under quote No. 7 above. Here, the divine verse advises the believers against taking the Jews and the Christians as auliya. See my remarks under quotes 5 and 8 above.
      10. "The believers indeed are brothers." ( Apa
rtments: 10 )

11. "Moslems are hard against the unbelievers,
merciful to one another." (Victory: 25)
The quote at 11 is wrong numbered, the correct verse No. being 29. Both the verses are as usual arbitrarily abridged by the author and are presented without their contexts. The intention obviously is to present Islam in bad light by highlighting the contrasting attitude of believers towards one another among themselves and towards the disbelievers. The quote at 10 above was revealed at a time when peoples from different tribes had started embracing Islam in hordes. The Arab society till then was divided into tribes, and they had strong tribal loyalties. They were told that after embracing Islam, the different tribes had all joined one brotherhood. The latter verse at quote No. 11 was revealed earlier at a time when the disbelievers at Makkah had barred the entry of the Muslims of Medina from the Kaaba. It had been the Arab tradition not to bar the entry of anyone from the sanctuary. The verse was revealed to urge Muslims to be firm  and unyielding against the hostility of the disbelievers, then.
A Muslim naturally believes in all such Koranic
verses, which determine his social outlook and he
becomes a narrow- minded sectarian. This psychological
approach is the fountain of fundamentalism. It is a
myth to say that Islam advocates good relationship
with the People of the Book, that is, the Jews and
Christians. What I have said at 9 above supports this
statement. If this were not enough, one could refer
the matter to HADITH, the sayings of the Prophet:
Chapter LXXI of SAHIH MUSLIM clearly states that since
Islam is the religion for the entire humanity, it
abrogates all other faiths. To illustrate the point
further, the hadith no.285 asserts that any Jew or
Christian who has heard of Muhammad but does not
believe in him, will become "one of the denizens of
Hell-Fire."

The Islamic fundamentalism has become the foundation
of Islamic morality. What makes it a threat to human
survival is the fact that it is not a passive approach
but advocates active aggression to impose itself on
the unbelievers. Why? It gives several reasons for
this. Let me quote two:

1. "Muslims are the best of all nations." (House
of Imram: 110). Obviously, the best nation is superior
to other people, who must wear the yoke of
discrimination.

2. The Prophet Muhammad has been sent by God
with "the religion of Truth, that He may cause it to
prevail over all religions.." (Private Apartments: 28)

Simply stated it means that Muslims are superior to
non- Muslims and have the birth-right to dominate
them. This is why Islam calls itself DIN-E-GHALIB, the
religion of dominance.

As every student of psychology knows, the purpose of
any fundamentalism is to secure blind following from
its adherents. This is possible only when they are
conditioned to a certain object or goal which begins
to rank as the sole purpose of their lives. As a
result, the purpose begins to overrule the method of
acquisition; whatever secures it is good and whatever
obstructs it is bad. In a nutshell, people must stop
thinking for themselves, especially in terms of
morality. As the Marxists brainwashed people in the
name of proletarianism and what it stood for, the
Muslims have been conditioned to the person of the
Prophet Muhammad, who is projected as the Saviour of
his followers, having complete power to find them
permanent residence in paradise, which is the abode of
luxury, love making and lasciviousness. Since Muslims,
in most countries are deprived, depressed and
desolated, they are prepared to do anything to uphold
the honour of the Prophet. For total obedience, they
are at liberty to indulge in the most convenient
morality such as mendacity, rape, murder, theft and
treason without losing their chance of entering the
paradise which has been absolutely guaranteed by their
faith in the Prophet Muhammad.

A corollary of this belief is the oppression of
non-Muslims by the Muslims, who deny human rights to
the unbelievers for upholding the Islamic precepts in
relation to the infidels. As a result, non-Muslims are
discouraged to live in the Muslim countries even if
they have originally belonged to their ancestors. It
is justified on the precedent that the Prophet
Muhammad expelled all Jews and unbelievers from
Arabia. The modern example is that of Pakistan, the
original home of the Hindus. There were millions of
non-Muslims in this land before partition of India but
as Pakistan came into being they all were thrown out
through malice, mutilation and massacre. On the
contrary, over 100,000,000 Muslims live in India and
demand human rights! In Islamic countries, the non-
Muslim minorities are either non-existent or very tiny
indeed. This strangulation of human rights has become
a part of the Islamic morality.

Since Islam is the Din-e-Ghalib i.e. the religion of
dominance by God's will, Muslim minorities in
non-lslamic countries do everything possible to
harass, humiliate and harangue the host countries to
practise their faith and culture. The "Muslim
Parliament" of Great Britain is an example in point.
In fact, this coterie of a few hundred Muslim
fanatics, is a mockery of the British tolerance and
hospitality. Its major role is to collect donations
from its adherents, forbid Muslims to seek
identification with Great Britain and practise all
rules of Islamic intolerance towards the host
community. There is no concept of parliamentary
government in Islam, whatever, yet these
hatred-mongers have set up this association in the
Land of Magna Carta, dedicated to liberty. It is only
a matter of time before the British government take
notice of its evil influence on the British culture,
causing problems also for those who have adopted the
British ways and are proud to be sincere citizens of
this land.

Use of violence for securing worldly goal and
terrorisation of non-Muslims are the pillar of Islamic
morality. It is done through:

1. secular laws which are made in the name of
Islam, and

2. the laws which Allah has framed and require
no legislative authority and procedures.

Now, let us ponder over these two points:

1a. Islam declares Muhammad the greatest of all
prophets and therefore reserves the highest reverence
for him. This has become an article of faith. A
Muslim, unwilling to force it on others, is considered
deficient in belief. As a result, every Muslim looks
for an opportunity to demonstrate the magnitude of his
faith by molesting non-Muslims, and even fellow-
believers who express less bigotory in this field.
Politicians have seized upon this emotional condition
of the Muslim mind to enhance their grip on power. For
example, Pakistan has passed TOHEEN-E- RASUL ACT
(Contempt of Prophet's Act), which prescribes death
for insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Such an Act has
never been passed in the world of Islam during the
last fourteen centuries; nor is there any religious
justification for it. In fact such a law in itself is
a gross contempt of the Prophet, who wanted to be
known as the Blessing for mankind. A person who is so
conscious of himself cannot be the Blessing for
lacking tolerance and understanding of the human
behaviour. Yet they have done it to terrorise the
dissidents and non-Muslims. The treatment of the
Qadiyanis and Christians in Pakistan, speak for
itself. In fact, it is an ambassador of moral
perversion which is an echo of the European
Inquisition conducted by the Christian clerics to
defend the holiness of their saviour, Jesus Christ.

This Islamic exploitation of the believers has led to
their moral bankruptcy, and this fact is well
demonstrated by what happened in Pakistan during the
middle of April, 1994:

Hafiz Sajjad Tariq of Gujranwala in Pakistan,
accidentally dropped a copy of the Koran in a
fireplace. As it caught fire, people of the locality
became aflame with rage. Not caring that Sajjad was a
pious Muslim devoted to exalt holiness of the
Scripture (Koran), they a leged that he had desecrated
the Word of God. As mullahs of the area heard of it,
they instantly issued Fatwas of apostacy against
Sajjad. Like hawks, the fundamentalists swoaped down
on him, each hoping that his blow would despatch the
victim to hell assuring him (the assailant) a seat in
paradise. As they were hitting him, someone shouted
that he was being dished out an un-Islamic punishment
because he must be stoned to death. By then, they had
broken his ribs and he was not able to walk. A gallant
police officer intervened and locked him up with a
view to saving him from mob-violence. As the news
spread, a large crowd of frenzied Muslims appeared
before the local police- station demanding his
immediate release. The Police Inspector, instead of
enforcing the law, fell for the temptation of
establishing himself as the champion of Islam and
handed Sajjad to the attackers. They started stoning
him mercilessly and thereafter set his body on fire.
If this were not enough, they tied his corpse to a
powerful motor-cycle and dragged it through the
streets for two hours! After a pious show of Islamic
morality, they felt that they had done enough to
avenge the honour of the Prophet whom the Koran had
been revealed.

This type of Islamic morality is rampant, not only in
the Islamic countries, but also in the lands where the
Muslims have settled in sufficient numbers. To explain
this point, I may quote Britain where I live. I wrote
and published a book: "Eternity" in 1990. It
challenges the basic concept of revelation, the
foundation of prophethood. As the Muslim organisations
heard about it, they individually and severally issued
a fatwa condemning me to death. Neither have they
given me a chance to explain myself before a properly
constituted tribunal of justice nor have they accepted
my challenge for a public debate. Its consequences
have been painful to me and my family.

What I have stated above roughly deleneates the
Islamic morality in relation to legislated law. Now, I
may briefly touch upon the second part of the issue
i.e. the direct commands of Allah which are so evident
that they need not be legislated:

2a. Jehad is one of them, and forms an integral part
of the Islamic morality. It is an open behest of Allah
to murder, pillage, rape and create widows and orphans
for imposing Allah's will on the unbelievers, who are
considered His worst enemies just for the "sin" of
unbelief. Yet, Allah calls himself the Independent
(SAMAD), All-Compassionate, All- Powerful and Creator
of the whole universe!

If Allah does possess all these qualities, how can He
sanction the destruction of innocent people? If He
were so desperate for worship, being the All-
Pawerful, Compassionate, Creator, He would have
created humankind in such a way that everyone was born
with the belief suited to God.

Instead of delving into this mystery, I hasten to add
that Jehad or violence is considered holy by Allah,
who, in return for persecuting, pillaging and
paralysing the infidels declares:

"Allah has bought from the faithful theirselves and
their belongings against the gift of paradise; they
fight in the way of Allah; they kill and are killed.."
(Repentance: 110)

A HADITH ( the saying of the Prophet Muhammad )
declares: "Know that Paradise is under the shades of
swords." (Sahih Bokhari, Ch. 22: 73 )

What is paradise? The Muslim scholars are usually
embarrassed by this question and pretend that it is
not physical but a condition of the mind. The above
Koranic verse clearly states that it is a definite
exchange i.e. offer of paradise for killing a non-
Muslim or getting killed in the process of obeying
this divine command. The paradise is the main
temptation for practising Islam. This is the reason
that the Koran explains it well. Paradise is the
description of the luxurious surroundings dwelt in by
Houris and Ghilman. Houris are the most beautiful
ever-young virgins with wide, flexing eyes and
swelling bosoms. Ghilman are the immortal young boys,
pretty like pearls, clothed in green silk and brocade
an embellished with bracelets of silver.

Allah shall give every believing man no fewer than
seventy houris and many ghilmans. To make sure that
the lucky fellow can cope with them, Allah will
increase his virility a hundred-fold! This is the
ultimate goal of the Islamic morality, and it is why
that the Muslims, who are usually depressed, are ready
to practise convenient morality based on violence.
Even more potent factor in this field is their staunch
belief in the intercessory powers of the Prophet
Muhammad, which means that he has the authority to
accommodate his followers in paradise irrespective of
what they may have done. I shall deal with this point
in the next issue of "Liberty."
I have no doubt that 'the next issue of "Liberty"', which I have had no occasion to go through, has been as full of falsehoods and misrepresentations as the above article of the author is. I have already shown above how he has used these tools to present a completely false picture to his gullible readers, as regards the Qur'aanic verses 'quoted' by him at s. nos. 1 to 11.

The author obviously has sympathies with his Christian mentors in England, although he is wearing a Muslim garb in the shape of a Muslim name. And he has conveniently passed over a Christian weakness to the Muslims! It is the general Christian belief that Christ has atoned for all their sins here on earth by the supreme sacrifice of his life, and that therefore they have an assured place in Paradise, whatever sins they may commit here. Muslims, on the other hand, are told in the Qur'aan that there would be no intercession by anybody for anyone on the day of Judgement (verse 6.51). Paradise of course is the utopia which every soul aspires for. There shall be all comforts there and no problems of any kind whatsoever, like those we face here in this worldly life. It is the mischievous and sick mind of the author which makes him see only houris there and makes him concoct the story about the 'virility' of men being increased 'hundred-fold' to cope with the plentiful houris. The Qur'aan lays down the necessary conditions for a human being to get salvation and entry into Paradise. He/she should (1) believe, (2) do good deeds, (3) urge one another to abide by the Truth and (4) urge one another to be patient in adversity, here on earth. (Qur'aanic Chapter 103)

As is the author's despicable wont, he gives the wrong number to the verse regarding the purchasing of the lives of the believers for granting them lives in Paradise. It appears he makes the mistake deliberately. He knows most of his readers won't check up. And even if one takes the trouble of checking, he would not have the patience and time for locating the correct number. He will give up the search, assuming that the author has made a genuine typographical mistake. The author's sinister motive of misleading his gullible readers about Islam would thus remain unexposed!

The correct number of the relevant verse is 111 and the subject matter extends to verse 112. The full translation of both the verses is as follows:  "Allah has indeed purchased from the believers their lives and their worldly wealth, for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allah's Path; so they kill, and are killed. It is a promise, binding on Him, made in the Torah, in the Gospel and in the Qur'aan. And who can be a better fulfiller of promises than Allah?! Rejoice then in the bargain that you have made. And that is the supreme success - for those who repent, who worship Him, who praise Him, who fast, bow and prostrate for Him, who enjoin doing righteous deeds, who forbid committing of bad/wrong deeds and who restrain themselves from crossing the limits set by Allah. And give the good tiding to the believers!"

Compare this full translation with the one given by the author above. The purposely truncated version presented by the author was for promoting his motive of painting a false impression about Islam that it promises Paradise to the believers
in return for their 'persecuting, pillaging and paralysing the infidels'. The full translation ought to make the matter abundantly clear. The verse was revealed at a time when the Muslims were in a state of of war with the non-Muslims. They were being urged to fight in Allah's way. Every fighting army anywhere and at anytime in the world has to be urged to fight on. It couldn't be anything different with the Muslim army. And the Muslim army was not being urged to
'persecuting, pillaging and paralysing the infidels', as the author mischievously and falsely suggests. There was no 'persecuting, pillaging and paralysing the infidels' when the Muslim army, under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad, conquered Makkah. On the other hand, a general amnesty was declared. See my remarks above in this context.

The author's utter ignorance about the religion of Islam is palpable when he says that he is unable to understand why Allah did not create '
humankind in such a way that everyone was born with the belief suited to God.' The ignorant author loses all authority to write about Islam when he is unaware of a basic belief of the Religion. The basic belief is that mankind is a special creation unlike other animals. The other animals are sort of robots programmed to do certain fixed things during their respective life-spans. Beyond those fixed things, such animals have no capacity to create new things. The nest, a bird creates, has remained the same, in quality and structure, throughout all ages. It does not have the necessary intelligence to innovate.  It does not moreover have the choice to lead a different way of life. Man, on the other hand has the necessary intelligence to create and to understand things other animals can't, and he has freedom to choose among diverse ways of life. Now, our 'learned' author questions God's wisdom in giving mankind this freedom of choice when he wonders why He did not create
'humankind in such a way that everyone was born with the belief suited to God.' In other words he wanted that God ought to have created Man just like He created those other animals! Allah has granted mankind special intlligence to make them recognise therewith His existence. And He has not left them to grope in the dark merely with their intelligence. From time to tme in the past, He had sent His Messengers to guide mankind with divine Books, the last of which is the Qur'aan. The divine Books informed mankind that their worldly lives are but tests to see if they recognise the Reality of Allah, the Sole Creator, and that there is a Hereafter, wherein to get the fruits of their labours here. And despite all necessary things having been provided for easy recognition of the Reality, some among mankind use their freedom to choose to deny the Reality, it would be a sheer act of obstinate arrogance on their part, entailing punishment in their lives to come. Those who recognise the Reality, and abide by the divine code of conduct shall be suitably rewarded there. The ignorant author is miserably unaware of this basic article of faith in Islam.

Another fundamental article of faith in Islam, which the author is either ignorant of or does conveniently forget, is that there is no compulsion in the religion (verse 2.256). This is perfectly in harmony with freedom of choice which Allah has granted to all human beings - freedom even to deny the Creator's existence! The authority to give punishment for this fundamental denial is reserved by Allah with Himself. HE has not delegated to mankind any power to punish anyone either for being an atheist or for being an apostate from one religion to another. Islam has not even imposed any punishment in this world for the sort of denigration against the religion, that the author himself indulges in, unless it leads to plotting against the State, or to a law and order problem. The Qur'aan quotes many instances of non-Muslims denigrating or ridiculing Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, during his time, but there was no punishment imposed just on that account. The instances quoted by the author wherein he and his family were made to suffer or wherein a man was lynched to death just because he accidentally caused burning of a copy of the Qur'aan are instances of mobocracy. Such instances of mob cruelty have no sanction in the Religion. As regards the instance of an Islamic State legislating death penalty for insulting the Prophet, it is a matter of an independent State legislating for itself as a measure to maintain law and order. Other States too legislate penal provisions against denigrating religious personalities, as a measure for maintenance of law and order. As pointed out above, the Qur'aan doesn't prescribe any specific penalty merely for such an offence, but prohibits believers from deriding gods of other religions.

And despite the clear-cut declaration in the Qur'aan that there is no compulsion in the religion, the author, in his relentless efforts at denigrating Islam, relies on naked lies such as "
Use of violence for securing worldly goal and terrorisation of non-Muslims are the pillar of Islamic morality." Use of violence for securing worldly goal and terrorising of non-Germans was indeed the pillar of morality for Hitler's Nazis. But the havoc Hitler caused to world peace cannot be attributed to Christianity, just because he happened to be a Christian. Similarly, terrorist attacks  like '9/11' cannot be attributed to Islam, just because the group who organised that attack happened to be Muslims. Islam does not sanction terrorist attacks like '9/11'. Had violence and terrorism been the creed of Islam, as the author falsely claims, the Religion would have long back been destroyed, as were Hitler's Nazis. It is the Law of Nature that people breeding violence and terorism do not last long. Islam, on the other hand, is now the fastest growing religion, especially in America and Europe.

There cannot be any compromise between the Truth and the Untruth. Yes, Islam does claim that it presents the Truth, and nothing but the Truth, before mankind. But it also does recognise that every individual is free to accept the Truth or not to accept it. This recognition on the part of a Muslim necessarily makes him tolerant towards non-Muslims. A true Muslim can never employ force to convert anyone to Islam. The fact that despite Muslim rule of a long period lasting many centuries, the majority population in India remained non-Muslim, gives an historical proof that Muslims generally adhered to this principle. The author lies when he says that Islam 'advocates active aggression to impose itself on the unbelievers.' It is also an historical fact that the Muslim majority
in the Middle East had been living in peace and harmony with Jews and Christians there for centuries before the Western countries imposed the State of Israel in their midst.

Another canard that the mischief-mongering author fabricates is that the Qur'aanic verses have made a Muslim,
a narrow-minded sectarian! And to support this canard, he has twisted the meanings of the verses, as already shown herein above, in details. And he is trying to present some minor individual episodes as examples of Islamic narrow-minded sectarianism. But he conveniently forgot to brand what Hitler did, on such a notoriously large scale, as Christian narrow-minded sectarianism.

The author further lies that there 'is no concept of
parliamentary government in Islam'. Within the broad framework of the Qur'aan, which is the Written Constitution of Islam, the believers are instructed to conduct their affairs through mutual consultations (verses 3.159 & 42.38). These verses give necessary authorisation for parliamentary democracy in an Islamic State. The Prophet himself set an example of such a democracy by consulting his Companions in all matters concerning the neoIslamic State established then. For example, the wordings of the Adhaan (call to prayer) are not prescribed in the Qur'aan. They were not even dictated by the Prophet. The Council of the Companions, including the Prophet, unanimously approved the wordings suggested by one of the Companion.

The author talks about Islamic morality, while he does not know even the basic principles of Islam! And what is his own morality? He deliberately indulges in falsehoods in order to promote his life-mission of denigrating Islam. And he is not bothered about it at all. For, he does not have faith in the Islamic belief in the Creator and in the Hereafter. He does not believe that the Creator would raise him up again after his death. He does not believe in any life after death when he would be punished by the Creator, for his misdeeds here. It is because of such unbelieving persons, like the author himself, that there is so much of wickedness, misery and hatred in this world. And had the world been inhabited only  by truly believing persons, there wouldn't be this wickedness, misery and hatred we find here. The believing persons would always be mindful of the divine punishment they would get in the Hereafter, for any crimes done in this world.

Islamic morality requires a believer steadfastly to be on the side of Truth and Justice, even if it be against his/her own kith and kin. Islamic morality prohibits a believer from oppressing or killing innocents. Islamic morality requires a believer to work for all that is morally good and to desist from all that is morally bad. By denigrating such morality, the author gives proof of his own moral decadence.
